Systems for personal finance
As we build the business of Emotions at Work, the two of us have regular discussions about money. Recently, we’ve been talking about (personal) spending and saving, in relation to making money–and all of the emotions involved.
In particular, we’ve been struck by the power that organizing and visualizing our household finances have for decision-making and distinguishing between real vs perceived scarcity.
As we both love a good system, we got excited to share our respective systems and thought, wouldn’t it be great to have that conversation with a slightly bigger group?!
First we’ll have short “show and tells” from three people of the systems they have in place to manage their money. Then, we’ll have open discussions to reflect and explore whatever comes up. We’ll end with identifying what would make each of us more resourced and intentional about moving forward with our finances in a way that embraces the emotions involved.
What we talk about when we talk about feedback
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore “What we talk about when we talk about feedback.” This session is part of a broader theme we’ve been developing as part of our new in-house programming for teams. In this workshop, we’ll offer a special, individual-focused version designed to emphasize personal discovery.
Year-end intention setting
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore our emotional drivers and set personal intentions from now until year-end. We’ll reflect on feelings to pursue and those to mitigate in our work and create plans to support our emotional well-being and manage undesired emotions at work.
Moods and enemies of learning
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session we’ll draw on the book “Learning to Learn and the Navigation of Moods: The Meta-Skill for the Acquisition of Skills” by Gloria P. Flores to explore the inner monologues that block learning and growth.
Loneliness at work
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore loneliness at work.
Confidence at work
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore how we may cultivate presence to help others feel more confident, reassured, or courageous at work – and in turn, build confidence ourselves.
How I want to feel and not feel at work
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore how we each want to feel and not feel (but might from time-to-time) at work using The Emotional Culture Deck.
Exploring personal values
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore personal values and how they connect with and inform how you think, feel and behave in the workplace.
Emotional processing with Clean Language
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll practice Clean Language techniques to explore and understand what happens before, during and after we experience a specific emotion, such as anger, and also take time to reflect on our learning journey together.
Emotional processing
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore emotional processing, identifying our needs and style of processing and having a round of exchange on strategies that we use.
Exploring your emotional needs at work
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore our emotional needs in our work relationships, building on research from Gallup on the increasing importance of a work best friend. We’ll identify our “emotional support crew” and explore how we can each feel more supported and connected at work.
Amplifying and embracing emotions at work
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore how having a “menu” of emotions to choose from can help us reflect and go a layer deeper in recognizing and naming how we feel at work. We’ll discuss ways we can learn to amplify and embrace emotions at work and explore how emotions show up (similarly or differently) for each of us.
Decoding “ugly” emotions
In this Navigating Emotions at Work alumni session, we’ll explore the layered nature of our emotional landscape. We’ll dive into meta emotions—the feelings we have about our feelings—and practice slowing down to discern what’s beneath the surface. Together, we’ll examine so-called “ugly” emotions by unpacking their story, impulse, and purpose.
