Taking your emotional pulse

I’ve used the How We Feel app on and off for a few years, as a forcing function to check in with myself.

Pausing to name what’s happening slows me down. It helps me get curious, and consider if I want to amplify or exit a certain emotion. Or notice patterns and ponder whether there are changes I want to make in the long run.

We recommend it as a practice in our Navigating Emotions at Work program, too. To take emotional pulse checks, on paper or with an app like this one. We consistently hear from participants about how useful it is, with stories of the the discoveries they've made.

Give it a try :)
It took me a few tries for the habit to stick but it's an interesting experiment.

Aside: As a designer and perpetual tool tester, I try all kinds of apps for wellness, meditation, journaling etc. I think the AI and quantified self feature sets, as well as the integration of rich media content in these tools, are starting to get somewhere. V interesting space to track and experiment...!
